Astym
Astym is a tool-assisted soft tissue technique that helps to break down dysfunctional and/or scar tissue in the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia that can cause pain and limitation. By breaking down this tissue, Astym helps to promote improved muscle function and mobility and reduce pain levels.
Dry needling
Dry needling is an intervention using a filiform needle to stimulate trigger points and diagnose and treat neuromuscular pain, and function movement deficits. With a foundation in Wester medical concepts, dry needling requires an examination and diagnosis; and it treats specific anatomic entities selected according to physical signs. In a physical therapy setting, we use dry needling to diagnose and then stimulate and treat trigger points in the muscles. This helps to reduce tension and pain, and also improve muscle activation
Manual Therapy
When most people think of going to PT they're often thinking of manual therapy which incorporates soft tissue massage and mobilization techniques, mobilizations to the joints, and hands-on interventions to help improve mobility and reduce pain.
Exercise Education & Instruction
Physical therapists specialize in movement. As a result, part of our role is to help educate and instruct you in which exercises you should be doing - and why - to address whatever brings you in to see us. Exercise are custom fitted to your body and can vary from stretching to strengthening, low-level or high intensity, or a combination.
Postural Restoration®
Be You incorporates techniques developed by the Postural Restoration Institute®. According to the institute, postural restoration looks at postural adaptations, asymmetrical patterns and the influence of muscles that cross multiple joints in the body. This approach addresses underlying biomechanics which, can often lead to symptoms of pain and dysfunction. All mechanical influences on the body that restrict movement and contribute to improper joint and muscle position are considered, examined, and assessed. Non-manual and manual techniques are utilized to restore proper alignment of the body, while proper respiratory dynamics are considered.
